Weed, Thurlow
(15 nov. 1797, Cairo, N.Y., EE.UU.–22 nov. 1882, Nueva York, N.Y.).

Periodista y político estadounidense. Trabajó en diversos periódicos del norte del estado de Nueva York y fue dirigente del movimiento antimasónico. Fue director fundador del vespertino Albany Evening Journal (1830–63). Colaboró en la formación del Partido Whig en Nueva York y fue fundamental en la elección de William Seward como gobernador (1838) y en la elección presidencial de William H. Harrison (1840). Más adelante participó activamente en el Partido Republicano y fue un firme partidario del pdte. Abraham Lincoln. En 1861 fue enviado a Inglaterra a buscar apoyo para la Unión.
